Florence is able to work with Skilled Worker (Tier 2 General) or Student (Tier 4 Student) visa holders.
Tier 2 is a skilled worker visa which means you can only work in the UK in that skilled job. Everyone on a Skilled Worker visa will have a skilled worker occupation code that is four digits long.
Care professionals who hold a Skilled Worker visa will need to provide Florence with the correct code for their job title. Nurse, Carer and Senior Carer all have different job codes.
A Skilled Worker visa holder can take on additional employment of up to 20 hours per week in their line of work.
Students that hold either a Student or Tier 4 visa at undergraduate level can work up to 20 hours a week during term time.
However, students may exceed the 20-hour restriction during recognised university holiday periods or after submitting documentation that confirms their course has officially concluded.
If you provide us with the dates of your course, we will be able to lift the restriction on the amount of shifts you can work when you are on holiday.
To work beyond 20 hours per week, staff holding student visas must provide one of the following documents to Florence:
A course completion letter from your university confirming your course has concluded and there are no academic obligations remaining.
A transcript or award certificate showing successful course completion.
Once these documents are verified, Florence can temporarily lift the 20-hour restriction during recognized holiday periods.
Care professionals will generally be able to book shifts up to a total of 20 hours per week with Florence if they hold this type of visa, unless they provide proper documentation to demonstrate eligibility for exceeding this limit.
Any unauthorised time worked over the 20 hours will not be paid for. However, care professionals can exceed the 20-hour limit if they provide the required documentation and update their holiday periods in Florence. It remains the responsibility of the professional to ensure compliance with their visa restrictions.
Compliance Guidance for Visa Restrictions
For users on restricted visas, Florence ensures that their shifts align with the conditions of their visa. For example, if your visa allows only a specific number of working hours each week (e.g., 20 hours), the app will enforce these restrictions by not allowing you to book shifts that exceed the limit. Compliance with visa restrictions is mandatory, and the app is structured to assist in maintaining this compliance seamlessly. Moreover, it is crucial to monitor your total hours worked across all employment types or platforms (including work outside Florence) to ensure full compliance with your visa conditions.
Additionally, for student visa holders, exceeding the 20-hour work limit requires the submission of either a course completion letter, an official transcript, or an award certificate. Florence verifies these documents to ensure compliance before lifting the restriction.
How Florence Helps You Manage Work Hour Restrictions
Automated Hour Tracking
The Florence app automatically monitors how many hours you work each week explicitly based on your designated restrictions. Once you reach your weekly limit, the app blocks you from selecting additional shifts to prevent accidental breaches of your allowed hours. Additionally, your remaining hours for the week are prominently displayed at the top of the app interface, ensuring transparency and ease of monitoring.
Shift Selection within Permitted Hours
If you have limited hours left for the week, the app will only display shifts that fit within those remaining hours. This intelligent filtering helps ensure you can select shifts more conveniently while avoiding compliance issues. To maximize your opportunities, it is recommended to enable app notifications for being alerted when shifts matching your preferences, such as half-day shifts, become available. This includes monitoring total hours worked across all employment types or platforms (including work outside Florence).
Furthermore, student visa holders can specify recognised holiday periods in their profile. During these periods, Florence's system allows the selection of shifts exceeding the 20-hour weekly limit.
