To start picking up shifts with Florence in England and Wales, you'll need an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and valid DBS certificate.

If you need a new DBS, we can apply on your behalf. The cost of a Child and Adult Workforce DBS is £45.20, but we'll reimburse you once your police checks have cleared and you've worked your first shift with Florence.

To proceed with your DBS application, you'll need to provide:
• A photo ID (for example, a valid driver’s licence, passport or biometric residence permit).
• Two supporting proof-of-address documents.

Proof-of-address documents we can accept include:
• Utility bill (except mobile phone) dated within the last three months.
• Bank or building society statement dated within the last three months.
• Credit card statement dated within the last three months.
• Council tax statement dated within the last 12 months.
• P45 or P60 dated within the last 12 months.
• Mortgage statement dated within the last 12 months.
• Tenancy agreement dated within the last 12 months.

Please send these documents with the subject ‘DBS request’ to [email protected].

Once we've made an application on your behalf, you'll get an email with a link to complete your part of the application, including payment.

After you've received your DBS, you have 28 days to upload it to the Update Service (https://www.gov.uk/dbs-update-service).

If you have a conviction that you think will be flagged on your DBS, find out what to do here (https://help.florence.co.uk/en/articles/6158498-i-have-a-conviction-on-my-dbs).

Important: If you currently have a DBS but it's not on the Update Service, we'll need to apply for a new one for you.
