To work in the UK, you need to have a National Insurance (NI) number (https://www.gov.uk/national-insurance/your-national-insurance-number). You can find your NI number on previous payslips or on your P60 or P45.

If you don't have an NI number, you can apply for one here (https://www.gov.uk/apply-national-insurance-number).

It can take up to eight weeks to receive your NI number once you've applied. In the meantime, you can begin work with a temporary number.

However, you might be taxed at a higher rate with a temporary number. Once you receive your permanent NI number, please send it to [email protected] right away to make sure you're paying the right amount of tax.
