What are Working Day Preferences?
Working Day Preferences let you mark the days and times a staff member does not usually work.
This makes it clear to managers which days someone is typically unavailable, while still allowing flexibility when needed.
Why use this?
Avoid accidentally rostering staff on days they don’t normally work
Give managers better visibility when planning rotas
Reduce confusion and last-minute changes
Example
If a worker does not usually work on Mondays
Managers can clearly see that the worker is unavailable on Mondays
If a shift is added on a Monday, the system highlights that it’s a non-working day
The worker can still choose to work Mondays if they want, and will still be notified of any open shifts on this day
How to set Working Day Preferences
Go to Staff
Select a staff member
Click Working Preferences
Choose:
The day(s) of the week
The hours they are not available
Save the preferences
Preferences:
Can be set for multiple days
Repeat weekly on the selected days
How this appears on the rota
When building a rota:
Non-working days are clearly indicated next to the staff member’s name
Managers can still assign shifts
The system highlights shifts that fall on a non-working day
This helps managers make informed decisions without blocking scheduling.
Current limitations
Working Day Preferences are available in a first version with some limitations:
Weekly patterns only
Applied to all future weeks
Based on days of the week
