Step-by-Step Guide to Adding a Skill

Follow these four easy steps to get started:

  • Navigate to the Skills Section

  • From your main dashboard, click on the 'Staff' tab.

  • Select the worker whose profile you wish to update.

Within their profile, find and click on the 'Skills' option. Here, you'll see a list of skills already approved for that worker.

Add a New Skill- In the top-right corner of the Skills section, click the '+ Add Skill' button.

Choose the Skill Category - Select the most relevant category for the skill you are adding:

  • Clinical Knowledge

  • Clinical Skill

  • Learning Disability

  • Management

  • Mental Health

Select the Specific Skill and Provide Evidence - Once you've chosen a category, a list of specific skills will appear. After selecting a skill, you will be prompted to provide evidence. We understand that skills are gained through both formal training and on-the-job experience, so we have two simple pathways.

Training-Based Skills (Certified Learning)

These are skills verified by a formal training course, certificate, or qualification.

Example: Medication Administration Theory, First Aid Training.

To add this skill:

  • Select the skill from the list.

  • When prompted, upload a clear digital copy (PDF, JPG, PNG) of the relevant certificate or training document.

Experience-Based Skills (On-the-Job Expertise)

These are practical skills developed over time through hands-on work in various roles. No certificate is required.

Example: Managing Challenging Behaviour, Palliative Care Support.

To add this skill:

  • Select the skill from the list.

  • Enter the following details in the fields provided:

    • First Practised: The approximate date the worker first started using this skill.

    • Last Practised: The most recent date the worker used this skill.

    • Additional Details: A brief note providing context (e.g., 'Used daily for 3 years in a residential care setting').

What Happens Next? The Approval Process

Once you submit a new skill, our dedicated compliance team will review the evidence provided.

  • Timeline: You can expect the skill to be reviewed and approved within 5 working days.

  • Status: The skill will appear as 'Pending' until it is approved, at which point it will become active on the worker's profile.

By keeping your team's skills updated, you are not just filling out a profile; you are actively marketing their capabilities and opening doors to new opportunities.
