Does the rate change as the shift moves between day shift & night shift?

Yes it does.

Here is some examples:

Example Rate Card:

Shift 1

Shift times - 06:45-20:00 on a Tuesday.

  • 1.15 hours would be at the night shift rate.

  • 8 hours would be at the day shift rate.

So what does this look like:

£37.50 - Night Shift Rate (£30 per hour)

£240 - Day shift Rate (£20 per hour)

Total - £247.50

*Break adjustments will be based on the most common rate for a given shift

Shift 2

Shift times - 20:00-08:00 on a Thursday.

  • 12 hours of weekday night rate

So what does this look like:

£360 - Weekday Night Shift Rate (£30 per hour)

Total - £360

*Break adjustments will be based on the most common rate for a given shift


Shift 3

Shift times 09:00-15:00 on a Sunday.

  • 6 hours of weekend day rate

So what does this look like:

£210 - Weekend Day Shift Rate (£35 per hour)

*Break adjustments will be based on the most common rate for a given shift


Shift 4

Using the example rate card above.

Shift times - 20:00-08:00 on a Sunday.

  • 12 hours would be at the weekend night rate

So what does this look like:

£480 - Weekend Night Shift Rate (£40 per hour)

Total - £480

Shift 5 - Bank Holiday

Using the example rate card above.

Shift times - 20:00-08:00 on a Sunday ending on a Bank Holiday

  • 4 hours would be at the weekend night rate

  • 8 hours would be at the bank holiday

£160 - Weekend night rate (£40)

£320 - Bank Holiday day rate (£40)

Total - £480

*Break adjustments will be based on the most common rate for a given shift


Shift 6 - Bank Holiday 2

Shift times - 08:00-20:00 on a bank holiday rate

  • 12 hours would be at the bank holiday day rate (£40)

£480 - Bank Holiday day rate

Total - £480

Shift 7 - Bank Holiday 3

Using the example rate card above.

Shift times - 20:00-08:00 on a Bank Holiday ending not on a bank holiday.

  • 4 hours would be at the bank holiday rate

  • 8 hours would be at the weekday night rate

£180 - Bank Holiday night rate (£45 per hour)

£160 - Weekday day rate (£20 per hour)

Total - £340
