Circumstances can change, and sometimes you may need to cancel a posted shift. This guide shows you how to do it correctly on the platform and explains what happens after a shift is cancelled.

Important: Please Read Before Cancelling

To protect the income of healthcare professionals who arrange their schedules around booked shifts, a last-minute cancellation fee may apply.

If you cancel a shift within 4 hours of its start time, you may be charged a fee equivalent to 4 hours of pay, which will be paid to the booked professional. For full details, please review our complete Cancellation Policy.

Step-by-Step Guide to Cancelling a Shift

  1. Navigate to the main ‘Shifts’ tab from the top menu bar. This is where you can find all your upcoming shifts, whether they are open or already booked.

  2. Locate the specific shift you need to cancel and click on it to open the shift details page.

  3. In the top-right corner of the page, click the ‘Cancel Shift’ button.

  4. A pop-up window will appear asking you to confirm the cancellation. Click to confirm.

What Happens After You Cancel?

The outcome depends on whether the shift was already booked:

  • If the shift was open (not booked): The shift will be removed from the Florence platform, and professionals will no longer be able to see or apply for it.

  • If a professional was already booked: They will be notified of the cancellation immediately through their Florence app and via a confirmation email. You do not need to contact them separately.
