How does Florence meet right to work requirements?

Written by Stephen Paul

Every worker booked through Florence must have a valid, government-approved right to work check before they can be placed on a shift with you.

This page explains how that works, what changed on 1 October 2026, and how you can check a worker's status yourself.

What changed

From 1 October 2026, the Border Security, Asylum and Immigration Act 2025 extends right to work liability further along the labour supply chain. Responsibility now sits with more of the parties involved in placing a worker — including agencies, and potentially end clients.

We have strengthened our processes so that the checks behind every booking meet the standard, whoever supplies the worker.

Workers you book directly through Florence

Every Florence care professional completes a government-approved right to work check during onboarding, before they can apply for or book any shift.

Right to work sits alongside the rest of their compliance record. If a document expires, the worker is prompted to update it, and is restricted from applying for or booking shifts until they do. This is enforced by the platform rather than by policy alone.

Workers supplied to you by agencies

If you book agency workers through Florence, we now require the same standard of evidence from the agency before their worker can be placed with you.

  • From 1 October 2026, any new candidate an agency adds must have evidence of a government-approved right to work check on file before they can be placed.

Agencies can either upload evidence they already hold, which our compliance team reviews, or complete a check through Florence.

How the checks are carried out

Checks completed through Florence use Willo, powered by Yoti — a certified Identity Service Provider using Identity Document Validation Technology under the UK Digital Identity and Attributes Trust Framework.

The worker photographs their identity document and provides a photo and short video of their face, which is matched against the document. Where an agency uploads its own evidence instead, our compliance team reviews it against the same government-approved standards before the worker can be placed.

Checking a worker's status yourself

You don't have to take our word for it. You can view any worker booked for an upcoming shift from the Shift tab, and download a printable profile snapshot that shows their right to work status alongside their DBS status, training record and employment history.
