Ensure you get the professional with the exact qualifications for your residents' needs. The Skills feature allows you to add specific, verified training requirements to your shifts, giving you greater control over who can apply. 🎯

This guide explains how the feature works and how you can get it enabled for your account.

Understanding the Two Types of Skills

When this feature is active on your account, you can add skills to a shift in two ways:

Essential Skills (Required)

This acts as a mandatory filter. When you add an essential skill:

  • Only professionals with this verified skill on their Florence profile will be able to see and apply for the shift.

  • Best for: Critical, non-negotiable training that is essential for the safety and care of a resident.

Desirable Skills (Preferred)

This acts as a preference, not a filter. When you add a desirable skill:

  • All qualified professionals can still see and apply for the shift.

  • Applicants will be notified that this specific skill is preferred for the role.

  • Best for: Skills that are beneficial but not strictly necessary for the shift.

Examples of Common Skills

You can request to add a wide range of clinical and non-clinical skills to your account, such as:

  • Tracheostomy Care

  • Venepuncture & Cannulation

  • Catheterisation (Male/Female)

  • PEG Feeding

  • Syringe Driver Management

  • Dementia Care (Advanced)

How to Get the Skills Feature Enabled

The Skills feature is an add-on that our team needs to enable for your account.

To get started, please contact our Customer Support team via live chat. Let them know you're interested in adding skills to your shifts, and they will guide you through the quick setup process.

How to Use Skills When Posting a Shift

Once the feature is enabled on your account, using it is simple.

  1. Begin posting a shift as you normally would.

  2. You will see a new ‘Skills’ section in the shift-posting form.

  3. Simply tick the box next to the Essential or Desirable skill(s) you require for that specific shift.

  4. Complete the rest of the form and post your shift. Now, only professionals who match your requirements can apply.
