In certain situations, a shift may have specific, non-clinical requirements that are essential for the role. The Constraints feature allows you to add mandatory gender or driver's license requirements to a shift, ensuring that only professionals who meet these specific criteria can apply.
This powerful filter saves you time by removing the need to manually screen applicants for these essential requirements.
Understanding the Types of Constraints
The Gender Constraint (Male or Female)
This constraint will filter applicants so that only professionals of the selected gender can see and apply for the shift.
When to Use This Constraint
This feature should only be used when there is a genuine and lawful occupational requirement, in line with the Equality Act 2010. This is typically for reasons of privacy and decency, where a resident has a clear and documented preference for receiving personal care from a professional of a specific gender.
The Driver Constraint
This constraint requires that any applicant for the shift must hold a valid driver's license.
When to Use This Constraint
This constraint should only be used when driving is an essential part of the duties performed during the shift itself. For example:
Making community visits to multiple individuals.
Transporting a resident to an appointment in a vehicle.
It should not be used as a requirement for a professional's commute to and from your location.

How to Use Constraints When Posting a Shift
Once the feature is enabled on your account, applying a constraint is simple.
Begin posting a shift as you normally would.
You will see a new ‘Constraints’ section in the shift-posting form.
Select the required constraint for that specific shift (e.g., select 'Female' from the 'Gender' dropdown).
Complete the rest of the form and post your shift. The platform will now automatically filter applicants for you.
