The Newsfeed gives you one place to share updates with your staff: company news, training reminders, policy changes, events and celebrations. It replaces WhatsApp groups and group emails. Managers post updates to a feed, a group of people you choose. Staff get a push notification in the Florence Go app, and can read, react to and comment on every post.
The Newsfeed sits on the Messages page, in a Newsfeed tab next to Messages.
Note: The Newsfeed is switched on for each company by Florence. If you can't see the Newsfeed tab, speak to your Account Manager.
Key terms
Feed: a group of people who receive the same updates. You can have as many feeds as you need, for example one per home, one for the night team or one for managers.
Post: an update shared in a feed. Every post has a title and a message, and can include photos or files.
All updates: every post from every feed you're a member of, in one list.
Pinned post: a post kept at the top of its feed, for things staff need to find again, like key contacts.
Who can do what
Action | Who can do it |
Read posts, react and comment | Anyone who is a member of the feed, managers and staff |
Create a feed | Location manager and above (location manager, regional manager, financial controller, company director) |
Post an update | Location manager and above, in feeds they're a member of |
Pin and unpin posts | Location manager and above, in feeds they're a member of. This includes other people's posts. |

You only see feeds you're a member of. This applies to everyone, including company directors.
Unit managers can read, react and comment in feeds they've been added to. They can't create feeds, post or pin.
Staff can't create feeds or post. They read, react and comment in the Florence Go app.
Find the Newsfeed
Click the Messages icon (the speech bubble) at the top right of the screen.
Click Newsfeed at the top of the left-hand panel.
On the left you'll see All updates, then each feed you're in, with the most recently active feed first. Each feed shows its name (in bold when there are posts you haven't read), a purple badge with the number of unread posts, the latest post, how many members it has, and when it was last posted in.
Use Search updates to find a feed by name. It searches feed names, not the text of posts.
The number on the Messages icon counts unread messages only. Unread Newsfeed posts show on the Newsfeed tab.
Create a feed
On the Newsfeed tab, click New feed.
Enter a Feed name your staff will recognise, for example "Day team updates". A name is required.
Add Members:
Use Quick add to add a whole group in one click: Location managers & up, All managers or Everyone (all managers and staff). Each button shows how many people it will add. Click it again to remove that group.
If you manage more than one location, choose a Location first to limit the buttons to that home.
To add individual people, search in Add staff... or Add admin....
Click the member count, for example 17 members, to check who's been added. Click the x next to anyone who shouldn't be there.
Optionally, write a First post: add a title and a message, and attach any photos or files.
Click Create feed, or Create feed and post if you've written a first post.
You're added to every feed you create automatically. The new feed opens straight away.
Important: At the moment you can't add or remove people once the feed has been created, so check the member list before you click Create feed.
Post an update
Select the feed you want to post to. You can't post from All updates.
In the box at the bottom of the feed, enter a title and write your message. Both are required.
Use the toolbar to format your message: bold, italic, underline, bullet lists, numbered lists and links.
To add photos or files, click Attach photos or files. You can attach several at once. Click the x on a file to remove it.
Click Post update.
Your post appears at the top of the feed, below any pinned posts.
Photos and files
You can attach photos, videos, audio, PDFs, Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents, CSV files and text files. SVG images aren't supported.
Each file must be smaller than 10 MB. There's no limit on the number of files.
Photos show in full in the post. Click one to open it at full size. Other files show as a download card with the file name, type and size.
Who gets notified
Staff in the feed get a push notification in the Florence Go app, for example "New post in Sunnybrook updates. Oliver: Fire drill on Tuesday at 10am". Tapping it opens the post.
Managers don't get a notification. New posts show as unread on the Newsfeed tab instead. The Newsfeed doesn't send emails or texts.
Pin important posts
Pin a post to keep it at the top of the feed, for things staff need to refer back to, like key contacts or a policy reminder.
Hover over the post.
Click the pin icon at the top right. The post moves to the top and shows a Pinned tag.
To unpin it, hover over the post and click the pin icon again.
Filter posts
Use the buttons above the posts to show All posts, only Pinned posts, or only posts with Photos & files.
Posts are grouped by day (Today, Yesterday, then the date). Click Load more at the bottom to see older posts.
React and comment
React: click the smiley face under a post and choose 👍 ❤️ 😂 😮 😢 or 🙏. Click a reaction that's already there to add yours, and click it again to take it away. You can have one reaction per post. Choosing a different emoji replaces it.
Comment: click Comment (or 2 comments, for example) under a post, type in Write a comment… and click send.
React to a comment: hover over the comment and click the smiley face.
Everyone in the feed can see comments and reactions.
Delete a post or comment
You can only delete posts and comments you wrote yourself.
Post: hover over the post, click the bin icon, then click Delete. This removes the post, its comments and its reactions for everyone in the feed.
Comment: hover over your comment, click the bin icon, then click Delete. This removes the comment for everyone.
All updates
Click All updates at the top of the feed list to see every post from every feed you're in, newest first. It shows how many feeds and people that covers, for example "3 feeds · 18 people", and its badge shows your total unread posts.
You can react, comment, pin and filter here. To post, select a single feed.
Read and unread posts
Posts are marked as read when you open the feed and they load on screen. The unread badges on each feed and on All updates go down as you read. Your own posts never count as unread.
There's no way to see which staff have read a post. If you need that, use Messaging, which shows who has read each message.
What your staff see
Staff use the Newsfeed in the Florence Go app. They can:
see posts from every feed they're in, with a badge showing how many they haven't read

open a post to read it in full and view its photos and files
react to posts, comment, reply to comments, and react to comments
search posts and filter by feed
Staff can't create feeds or post updates.
