Overview
The Newsfeed gives you one place to share updates with your staff – company news, training reminders, policy changes, celebrations and more – instead of relying on WhatsApp groups or email.
Managers post updates to a feed (a group of people you choose, for example "Tall Oaks updates"). Staff get a notification on their phone, and can read, react to and comment on posts in the Florence Go app.
The Newsfeed sits on the messaging page, in a Newsfeed tab next to Messages and Groups.
Note: The Newsfeed is being rolled out gradually. If you can't see the Newsfeed tab, speak to your Account Manager.
Key terms
Feed – a group of people who receive the same updates. You can have as many feeds as you need, for example one per location, one for all managers, or one for the whole company.
Post – an update shared in a feed. Every post has a title and a message, and can include photos or files.
All updates – a combined view of every post from every feed you're a member of.
Who can do what
Action | Who can do it |
Read posts | Anyone who is a member of the feed |
React to and comment on posts | Anyone who is a member of the feed – managers and staff |
Create a new feed | Location manager and above (Location manager, Regional manager, Financial controller, Company director) |
Post an update | Location manager and above, in feeds they're a member of |
Pin and unpin posts | Location manager and above, in feeds they're a member of |
Delete a post | The person who posted it |
Delete a comment | The person who wrote it |
You only see feeds you're a member of, including in All updates. Unit managers can read, react and comment in feeds they've been added to, but can't create feeds or post.
Finding the Newsfeed
Click the messaging icon at the top of the screen.
Select the Newsfeed tab.
On the left you'll see All updates, followed by each feed you're in. Each feed shows its name, its latest post, how many members it has, when it was last posted in, and how many posts you haven't read yet.
Use the Search updates box to find a feed by name.
Creating a feed
On the Newsfeed tab, click New feed.
Enter a Feed name your staff will recognise, for example "Tall Oaks updates".
Add Members:
Use Quick add to add a whole group in one click: Location managers & up, All managers or Everyone (all managers and staff). Each button shows how many people it will add. Click it again to remove that group.
If you have more than one location, choose a Location first to limit the quick add buttons to that location, for example Everyone at Tall Oaks.
To add individual people, search for them by name.
Click the member count (for example 24 members) to check who's been added, and remove anyone who shouldn't be there.
Optionally, write a First post – add a title and message, and attach any photos or files.
Click Create feed, or Create feed and post if you've written a first post.
Important: You choose a feed's members when you create it, so check the member list before you click Create feed.
Posting an update
Select the feed you want to post to from the list on the left. You can't post from All updates.
In the box at the bottom of the feed, give your post a title and write your message. You can format text (for example bold) and add links.
To add photos or files, click Attach photos or files.
Click Post update.
Staff in the feed get a push notification in the Florence Go app, for example "New post in Tall Oaks updates – Sarah: Fire drill on Friday".
Photos and files
You can attach photos, videos, audio, PDFs, Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents, CSV files and text files.
You can attach more than one file to a post.
Each file must be smaller than 10 MB.
Pinning important posts
Pin a post to keep it at the top of the feed. This is useful for things staff need to refer back to, like key contacts or a policy reminder.
Hover over the post and click the pin icon. Click it again to unpin.
Filtering posts
Use the filter above the posts to show All posts, only Pinned posts, or only posts with Photos & files.
Reactions and comments
React: click the smiley face icon under a post and choose an emoji.
Comment: click Comment under a post, write your comment and send it. You can also react to individual comments.
Everyone in the feed can see comments and reactions.
Deleting posts and comments
Posts: hover over a post you wrote, click the bin icon, then confirm. This removes the post, its comments and its reactions for everyone in the feed.
Comments: click the bin icon next to a comment you wrote, then confirm. This removes the comment for everyone.
You can only delete posts and comments you wrote yourself.
What your staff see
Staff use the Newsfeed in the Florence Go app:
A Newsfeed tab shows posts from every feed they're in, with a badge showing how many they haven't read.
They get a push notification for each new post. Tapping it opens the post.
They can open a post to read it in full, view photos and files, react and comment.
They can search posts and filter by feed.
Staff can't create feeds or post updates – only managers can.
